How to Make Your Website Template SEO Friendly

Filed under: Uncategorized — FoxMarketer @ 4:02 am

If you’re looking for high rankings and traffic from search engines like Google, then it is important that you understand SEO and other factors can either help or hinder your ranking on Google.

In this article I will discuss different elements you should consider when choosing a SEO friendly template/theme.

A Fast Loading Site is a Good Site
You have gone through a lot of time and effort to set up the perfect website packed full of features, rollover menus and JavaScript buttons. But have you taken the time to check your page loading times?

I have found that page loading times are one of the most frequent SEO web design features that webmasters overlook and are an important element in any website and it is one of the factors that Google uses to judge the quality of your site.

If your site does not load fast, visitors will just leave or click out without ever getting to your page and seeing what you have to offer.

To avoid that happening I would steer clear of flashy features such as javascript, rollover buttons and menus as these elements will slow down your website.

In my experience many visitors appreciate a clean, fast loading site. So what other SEO web design aspects should I be aware of?

My advice is when designing your site to remember the following key rules –

1. Make sure your site theme (template) is consistent throughout the site.
If you use different themes on your pages Google spiders will become confused. To avoid this happening use a consistent theme or template throughout the entire site. If you use a WordPress theme then this is not a problem, because by default your theme will be consistent throughout the site.

2. Make sure your site code is clean and tidy.
A messy code can prevent search engines from fully indexing your page and ranking your page for specific keywords. If you need to check your code then this can be done with the W3C code validator.

3. Website structure:
Make sure your pages aren’t buried too deep within your website structure. For example, you ideally want your pages to be like this: www.somethingpage.com/something and not a complex page like this one www.somethingpage.com/category/adsense/somethingpage As a general rule I have found the deeper buried the page, the less priority Google will give it.

4. Website appearance.
It is important you spend time making sure your site as visually appealing and attention grabbing as possible for your visitors.

For example choose a template/theme that fits with your niche and make it visually appealing to your visitors. If you can add relevant pictures and content and make the site easy to navigate. In many cases, visitors leave within the first few seconds of visiting a website unless their attention is gained so make every effort to try and retain them on your site for as a long as possible.

5. Avoid Google Indexing Duplicate Pages.
You would be surprised how often blogs get penalized for not adding the ‘no index’ to archives and Blog categories.
Always remember that when you write a blog post it will get listed under the appropriate category it relates too and will also be placed in the ‘archives’ section.
This often means that Google will index the homepage, archives and the category resulting in you being penalized for duplicate content. So don’t forget to add the ‘noindex’ attribute to those archives and categories. It is very easy to do, but many blog owners often over-look this aspect because it is so small.

Plugins like “All in One SEO Plugin” and “Platinum SEO” can help prevent this problem occurring.

In conclusion, my advice is to take on board and follow these 5 key elements that I have detailed and to use this knowledge to make your theme or template SEO friendly and improve your rankings with Google.

7 Speedy Tips To Get Your Webpages Indexed By Google – FAST!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — FoxMarketer @ 2:30 pm

Below are 7 different strategies that you can use to get your content indexed by Google VERY quickly.

1. Comment on High page Rank Blogs

Blog owners frequently add new content all of which will eventually get indexed by Google.

I have found that by posting a comment on these recent posts (i.e. within a period of three days) there is a strong chance that when Google’s spiders pay a visit to that blog it will follow your blog comment and also index YOUR site in the process.

All you need to do is search for blogs that have recently added content. Commenting on a high page ranked blog is even better as Google spiders frequently re-visit high page ranked blogs/sites.

2. Linking from your Forum Signatures

Most forums allow you to have a forum signature with a link to your website.

If you utilize this opportunity and add a link to your site, every time you post in the forum, you will not only add a black link to your site, but also add an opportunity for search engine spiders to index the post and follow the link back to your site and index it.

By following this strategy the more forum posts you make the more chance there is for Google to follow your link and index your site.

3. Social Networking and Blog sites

It is evident that social networking sites are prime places for getting indexed by search engine spiders FAST.

This occurs because spiders are frequently crawling these sites looking for new pages and information which they can add to their index of web pages.

I would make an effort to sign up for some high page rank social book marking sites and add a bookmark. A useful list can be found here.

4. Submit articles to places such as ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com etc

Search engines spiders are constantly indexing these authorative article sites as they are packed full of information and search engines (such as Google) know that it would be beneficial for them, to add articles to their indexed web pages as it will help them provide more information for searchers.

Remember, Google’s main objective is to provide quality information to its searchers – articles provide this information.

5. Set up a Squidoo Lens / Hubpage

I have also found Squidoo lens get indexed by Google VERY fast. If you decide to use the Squidoo format I would include a link to your pages from the lens as this will most likely result in Google following the links to your site and getting your site indexed as well.

6. Pinging

If you run a wordpress blog, then by default, every time you post new content a ping is automatically sent to a number of providers, notifying them that you have new content on the site.

However, I have found that some of these “free” pinging sites often feature sites which are offline, or simply not working.

Recently I have used a site called Kping, and their pinging services – and have been quite happy with the results. Some brand new sites I tested using this services got indexed within a few hours.

They have compiled a list of 60 different sites which they automatically ping when notified that you have added new content.

You can sign up for a $1 trial for 30 days and see the results for yourself.

7. Add a link from your own site

If you have a site with a high page rank, often adding a link pointing at the domain will result in spiders following that link and indexing new content.

This tactic can only be applied however if you have a site with a page rank, or access to a high page ranked site where you can place your link.

Remember: Google has spiders constantly searching through the web looking for new content. It starts spidering pages in its index from Page Rank 10,9,8,7 and so on – indexing any new content along the way.
