SeoQuake: Easily Research Your Competitors

Filed under: Must Have Tools — Tags: , — FoxMarketer @ 2:50 pm

Researching niche markets, and competitors listing are all part of internet marketing. In this post I am going to introduce you to a handy firefox addon that I use on a daily basis – SEO Quake.

It is available here: Seo Quake Firefox Addon

Below is a screenshot of SeoQuake showing an analysis for each listing in the Google results page.

As you can see it has analyzed each listing on the search engine results page – taking into consideration it’s pagerank, backlinks, age and much more.

Basically, this amazing tool will help determine whether or not you can outrank your competitors and appear in the first page of Google.

I have found SeoQuake to be by far the most powerful and useful free tool that I have used to examine my competitors that rank in the top 10 in Google for the term I am targeting.

The key reason why I use this particular tool to find niches is because it gives me a detailed overview on the top listings and I can make a general assumption whether or not I can outrank my competitors for that particular term.

Breaking It Down:
SeoQuake Screenshot

Point 1:

Firstly, look at the pagerank of the top sites shown in the screenshot. This analysis will give you an indication of how competitive the market is and if it is dominated by anyone in particular.

If you find that most of the sites listed have a pagerank of 4 and above then I would leave it and move onto another market – there are plenty of other keywords in a less competitive market that you can target.

Point 2:

Thirdly, examine how many sites are linking to that page (yahoo links) refer to the figures highlighted in the screenshot.

It is important that you don’t become intimidated if the number you are researching is a high 400 or whatever because you need to be interested more in the quality of links (meaning anchor text) and not the quantity.

To clarify this point, a site could have 400 links from pagerank 0 sites, but a ‘keyword’ anchor link from a page rank 6 site will by far easily outweigh those 400 links.

If you really want to dig deeper, you can click on the yahoo symbol and it will show you the list of sites linking to that page.

You will then open the yahoo site explorer. Seo Quake will then analyze your comeptitors backlinks, showing you the page rank and details about the linking sites.

This is very powerful.

Point 3:

Now you have carried out your research and analysis it is time to look at the title in the results given. Do most of the results have the exact match keyword in their title?

If they don’t, then there is a strong chance that they have not targeted this keyword in particular.

Point 4:

Finally, SeoQuake lists the domain age. This is very useful as Google tends to favour older domains and generally gives them a rankings boost as a result.

For example, a 1995 domain will be very hard to beat compared to a brand new 2009 domain – unless of course you have a good link building plan.

Conclusions
Overall, I found SeoQuake to be a brilliant tool which provides you detailed information quickly and easily.

To use this tool you will need the firefox browser which can be downloaded free and SeoQuake addon will also need to be downloaded and is free to use.

After a while you will routinely get in the habit of knowing what terms are easy to rank for by simply following the points and guidelines I have outlined above.

7 Speedy Tips To Get Your Webpages Indexed By Google – FAST!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — FoxMarketer @ 2:30 pm

Below are 7 different strategies that you can use to get your content indexed by Google VERY quickly.

1. Comment on High page Rank Blogs

Blog owners frequently add new content all of which will eventually get indexed by Google.

I have found that by posting a comment on these recent posts (i.e. within a period of three days) there is a strong chance that when Google’s spiders pay a visit to that blog it will follow your blog comment and also index YOUR site in the process.

All you need to do is search for blogs that have recently added content. Commenting on a high page ranked blog is even better as Google spiders frequently re-visit high page ranked blogs/sites.

2. Linking from your Forum Signatures

Most forums allow you to have a forum signature with a link to your website.

If you utilize this opportunity and add a link to your site, every time you post in the forum, you will not only add a black link to your site, but also add an opportunity for search engine spiders to index the post and follow the link back to your site and index it.

By following this strategy the more forum posts you make the more chance there is for Google to follow your link and index your site.

3. Social Networking and Blog sites

It is evident that social networking sites are prime places for getting indexed by search engine spiders FAST.

This occurs because spiders are frequently crawling these sites looking for new pages and information which they can add to their index of web pages.

I would make an effort to sign up for some high page rank social book marking sites and add a bookmark. A useful list can be found here.

4. Submit articles to places such as ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com etc

Search engines spiders are constantly indexing these authorative article sites as they are packed full of information and search engines (such as Google) know that it would be beneficial for them, to add articles to their indexed web pages as it will help them provide more information for searchers.

Remember, Google’s main objective is to provide quality information to its searchers – articles provide this information.

5. Set up a Squidoo Lens / Hubpage

I have also found Squidoo lens get indexed by Google VERY fast. If you decide to use the Squidoo format I would include a link to your pages from the lens as this will most likely result in Google following the links to your site and getting your site indexed as well.

6. Pinging

If you run a wordpress blog, then by default, every time you post new content a ping is automatically sent to a number of providers, notifying them that you have new content on the site.

However, I have found that some of these “free” pinging sites often feature sites which are offline, or simply not working.

Recently I have used a site called Kping, and their pinging services – and have been quite happy with the results. Some brand new sites I tested using this services got indexed within a few hours.

They have compiled a list of 60 different sites which they automatically ping when notified that you have added new content.

You can sign up for a $1 trial for 30 days and see the results for yourself.

7. Add a link from your own site

If you have a site with a high page rank, often adding a link pointing at the domain will result in spiders following that link and indexing new content.

This tactic can only be applied however if you have a site with a page rank, or access to a high page ranked site where you can place your link.

Remember: Google has spiders constantly searching through the web looking for new content. It starts spidering pages in its index from Page Rank 10,9,8,7 and so on – indexing any new content along the way.
